Replacement degree certificate
Degree certificates are legal documents and we must ensure that there is only one in existence at any given time - We can not issue copies for third party submissions.
Students awarded before 2014
If you were awarded prior to 2014, your awarding body is University of London. Any requests for replacement graduate documentation will need to be made to them directly via their website.
Students awarded after 2014
Registry Services can produce replacement degree certificates; however as these are legal documents, eligibility criteria apply. A replacement certificate can only be produced if at least one of these criteria is met:
- If your certificate has been lost or misplaced
- If your degree certificate has been destroyed
- If your certificate was never received
If your name has changed please review the name change criteria below to see if you can request a replacement certificate under exceptional circumstances.
The replacement certificate will have the exact award information contained on your original certificate and will be produced on current certificate paper.
Please note that under no circumstances are we able to provide you with additional copies of your degree certificate. As this is a legal document, only one copy may be in circulation at any given time.
Requesting a replacement certificate
The process to request a replacement certificate may vary depending on your reason for needing a new certificate.
If your certificate has been lost, misplaced or destroyed, you will need to complete our Replacement Degree Certificate Declaration Form.
Once you have done this, you will receive a link to our e-shop to pay for your replacement and complete your request.
Once payment has been made, an AskQM case will be raised on your behalf and you will be contacted by a member of the Frontline Enquiry Response Team to confirm once your order has been processed.

Your name on your certificate
Your full name is shown on your degree certificate, including any middle names. Please check that your name is correct on your record to avoid any misprints and you receiving a certificate you are unhappy with.
You can check how your name will appear on your certificate within the 'My Details' section of MySIS. We can only print your certificate in your 'Full name' and not your 'Known as' or 'Display name'.
We are required to record your full name on your record as it is shown on your official ID provided during enrolment, for example your passport. If your name is misspelled or something is missing, please contact the AskQM Frontline Enquiry Team promptly. We will review the ID we have on record for you and update your name if required ahead of your certificate being printed.
Unfortunately, if you do not let us know of any errors throughout your study and before you are awarded, your certificate may be printed in the incorrect name and there may be a delay with issuing you a replacement.
Once you have been awarded (this means your degree has been confirmed on your record and you have been sent an email notifying you of your award), it is not possible to amend your name unless listed as an exception under 'Graduates' on our Student Names webpage.
