Dr Benjamin Neimark

Dr Benjamin’s research has contributed to the global understanding of the environmental impact of military activity, exposing the previously overlooked contribution of armed conflict to greenhouse gas emissions. Through major funded projects and high-profile publications, he has developed the first methods to quantify military emissions, helping to bring this hidden issue to the attention of policymakers and the wider public.

His work has informed discussions at COP (Conference of the Parties) climate summits and contributed to legal arguments before the International Court of Justice, influencing international climate policy debates and supporting the growing recognition of military emissions within global climate frameworks.

This award is a well-deserved recognition of Dr Benjamin’s outstanding contribution and impact.

We would also like to congratulate the other School of Business and Management finalists Professor Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, shortlisted in the Research Supervision category, and Dr Sayed Elhoushy, shortlisted in the Early Career Researcher category. Their nominations reflect the breadth, quality and impact of research taking place across the school.
