Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the TNE Winter Workshop.

It is a privilege to gather here in the magnificent Octagon, bringing together colleagues from our four transnational education programmes – Hainan, Xian, BUPT, and Nanchang. Today, we celebrate the strength of our TNE community and our shared commitment to educational excellence across borders.

We are honoured to have Professor Wen Wang, Vice-Principal and Executive Dean for Science and Engineering, with us to open the workshop. His welcome speech reminds us of the vital role TNE plays in delivering Queen Mary's 2030 strategy and the exciting future ahead. We are also delighted that Professor Richard Pickersgill, Deputy Vice-Principal for Science and Engineering, and Professor Christopher Bray, Faculty Dean of Education, have joined us today – a testament to the importance of this gathering.

Our programme today reflects the breadth and depth of TNE scholarship. Colleagues from our Nanchang Joint Programme – Richard Li, Manuela, and Giulia – will share their insights, and we will hear scholarship project presentations from Choi, Lilah, Irene, Tanya, and Richard. Our sessions will explore key themes including course design, challenges and opportunities in TNE, development and growth for teachers and learners, the role of AI in TNE, and supporting STEM students.

This is an exciting day for sharing best practices, exchanging ideas, and strengthening our collaborative networks. We hope you find the sessions inspiring and leave with new perspectives to take back to your teaching and research.

Thank you all for being here.
