The University explained that the computers became available following a recent upgrade of Queen Mary Malta Campus’ IT infrastructure, which introduced faster and more advanced systems across its campus in Gozo.

Rather than retiring the equipment, the University said it chose to repurpose the computers and donate them to Bishop Conservatory Secondary School, ensuring they continue to support learning while promoting sustainable use of technology.

The computers were officially handed over on the 15th of June, with Queen Mary Malta Campus staff assisting with installation and setup to ensure they could be use by students and teachers.

Professor Anthony Warrens, Dean of Queen Mary University of London Malta Campus, said, ”at Queen Mary Malta Campus, we are committed not only to providing world-class education but also to making a positive contribution to the communities around us. Following our recent technology upgrade, we recognised an opportunity to extend the life of our equipment while supporting local students and helping strengthen digital learning opportunities in Gozo.”

Speaking about the donation, Marvic Galea, Principal of Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary School, said, ”these computers will provide valuable support for both students and teachers and help us continue to strengthen digital education within our school. We are grateful to Queen Mary Malta Campus for this generous initiative and ongoing collaboration.”

The donation reflects Queen Mary Malta Campus’ commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and community engagement in Gozo, in line with the wider goals of Queen Mary University of London’s 2030 Strategy.
