During his visit Lord Snowden was very interested to meet with undergraduate Law Students and School of Law staff, learning more about their current access to justice work, the impact of pro bono on future lawyers and forthcoming plans for the Centre.

He had the opportunity to tour the construction site of what will soon be London’s first stand-alone student law clinic building when the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre re-locates in summer 2027.

Undergraduate Law student Kalen Harrald noted, “It was incredibly inspiring to hear about his journey from state school to the highest court in the country, and his dedication to bridging the gap in access. Queen Mary really values social mobility so Lord Snowden is a great role model for us”

Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre Director, Professor Frances Ridout said; “It was an honour to welcome Lord Snowden. To receive this support and encouragement from one of the country’s most senior judges is so inspiring, for both our educational and access to justice missions.”
