Available Placements

If you are interested in taking up a placement, send a message to the host's email address as given in the advertisement below.
Details will be decided between yourself, your line manager, and your host, including:
  • When exactly the placement will start and end
  • How much time (e.g. 2 hours per week) you will devote to the placement
  • How your other commitments will be managed
  • Identifying and addressing any concerns around data security/confidentiality, reasonable adjustments, etc.
When the details of a placement have been agreed, it is the responsibility of the guest (the person doing the placement) to contact opd@qmul.ac.uk and inform the Organisational & Professional Development Team of:
  • Which placement they are taking
  • The start date
  • The end date
This is for OPD team to keep accurate records and monitor the uptake of this programme.

 

Professional Services Conference 2026

Are you interested in developing your skills in event management, project coordination, communications, writing, or design? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

We're looking for volunteers to join the organising team for the PS Conference, a high-profile event taking place from 10 - 12 November 2026. This is an excellent placement opportunity to gain valuable experience, build your professional network, and enhance your career development.

As a member of the organising team, you could take on one of the following roles:

  • Communications and Content: Create engaging promotional materials, including E-Bulletin articles, email communications, and website content.
  • Session Producer (1st & 2nd Producer): Coordinate and manage live or pre-recorded conference sessions using Microsoft Teams.
  • Outreach Coordinator: Liaise with senior staff, support speakers, and ensure they are fully prepared to deliver their presentations and sessions.
  • Project Support Team: Provide event planning and project management support before and during the conference.
  • Administration Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as coordinating schedules, maintaining project documentation, managing shared inboxes, and providing general support to help the event run smoothly

Team members will also be expected to attend a weekly collaboration meeting (from mid September) to provide updates and help ensure the event runs smoothly.
