Digital Replicas in the UK: A Question of Voice, Likeness and Autonomy
In this ‘IP Café’, Dr Georgia Jenkins introduced her work on digital replicas and the emerging questions they raise for UK law, focusing on voice, likeness and autonomy in an AI-driven media environment, in light of the UK Government's 2026 AI and Copyright Report which identifies digital replicas as a priority area for further action.
The talk explored how current UK copyright law, data protection, privacy and related doctrines address AI-enabled digital replicas. It considered whether the UK should develop a dedicated personality right and situated this debate in a wider comparative landscape.
Where: Queen Mary University of London Institute in Paris, 9-11 rue de Constantine 75340 Paris Cedex 07
When: Friday, June 12 at 6PM – 8PM
