The Department has a unique combination of expertise in generative linguistics, experimental linguistics and sociolinguistics.

The faculty and students in the department study both the structural and the social aspects of language, and their interaction. We encourage hands-on learning, making the most of the extraordinary diversity of communities and languages across London.
